The winners of Sunday's World Cup final between Argentina and Spain will receive a championship ring for the first time, FIFA said.
The move brings "iconic American sporting tradition to global football," FIFA announced on Friday that the successful team will receive "a new symbol of triumph" in what it calls "a momentous first for a FIFA competition".
Championship rings are awarded to the winners of professional US sports including American football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey and the US football competition, Major League Soccer (MLS).
The World Cup trophy is engraved on one side of the bespoke ring, "while the other will be customised to reflect the identity of the winning team," FIFA said.
Temporary rings will be handed out to the captain and head coach of the winning side as soon as the game in New Jersey's MetLife Stadium ends.
Once the winners' rings have been customised, 30 will be officially presented to the victors at a later date, "ensuring the perfect lifelong fit for an achievement that will echo through eternity".
A total of 2,026 "strictly limited" edition rings, each individually numbered, are being made in what FIFA describes as a "direct tribute" to this year's tournament.
The remaining 1,996 will be made available to fans worldwide, allowing them "to own a unique piece of FIFA World Cup 2026 history".
FIFA did not say how much each ring would cost, but confirmed the winners will also receive the traditional gold medals.
In a momentous first for a FIFA competition, the tournament winners will also receive bespoke championship rings, bringing one of the most recognisable American sporting traditions to the global game.
Donald Trump will be at Sunday's match, the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, adding the US president will go to a FIFA reception at Trump Tower in Manhattan beforehand.
Asked if Trump will be cheering for Argentina given his criticisms of Spain's failure to support the Iran war, Ms Leavitt promised reporters she would find out.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will go to the game, his office said, but Argentine President Javier Milei, an ally of Mr Trump, said he will watch from home for fear of jinxing the three-time champions if he attends in person.
