Met Police investigating death of British man in Caribbean

Police are investigating the death of a Briton in the Caribbean after a private post-mortem found it was a homicide, a coroner has said.

Andrew Donald Frederick, 47, died in Grenada on 4 January and was brought back to the UK after local authorities ruled it "an accidental death".

Senior coroner Lydia Brown told a hearing at West London Coroner's Court that "the Met Police are now investigating" his death.

Ms Brown said: "There was a private family post-mortem from Professor Daisley which stated that the death was homicide."

Members of Mr Frederick's family attended the hearing on Tuesday via video link.

The cause of his death is currently "unascertained" in the UK, and it is understood there are ongoing diplomatic discussions with authorities in Grenada.
