Father, mother, their three daughters and son killed in Israeli airstrike in Gaza

A family of six have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

Firas al Masri, his wife, Salsabeel, and their three daughters and son died after their home in Gaza City was set ablaze on Tuesday, health officials have said.

The Israeli military confirmed the strike but said its target was a Hamas militant, adding that it was still looking into the result of the attack.

In separate strikes since Friday, the IDF says it has killed three militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, two of whom had taken part in the 7 October attack on Israel and had held Israeli hostages seized ‌in the assault.

A truce between Israel and Hamas dating back to October remains officially in place, but it has not stopped near-daily strikes on Gaza.

More than 1,150 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire took effect, according to officials in Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry.

Nearly all of Gaza's two million population now live on a tiny strip of land along the coast, mainly in makeshift tents or damaged buildings.

The war began when Hamas stormed into Israel on 7 October 2023, killing around 1,200 people and taking 251 hostage.

Israel's subsequent offensive has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials.
