Sabras Radio supports Cancer Awareness within the South Asian Community

COVID-19 has raised awareness about health inequality – this is also relevant in other diseases including cancer. There is a stigma surrounding cancer diagnosis within the South Asian community and cancer diagnoses are taboo. This means that people tend not to talk about it, even though they may be really worried. Cancer might not be detected until it is too late to successfully treat it. Also, within the community screening uptake is low for cervical, breast and bowel.

Here at Sabras Radio we understand the importance of raising awareness of these issues within our community. Therefore, we are partnering up with the local health service to ensure the South Asian community has support and knowledge around the importance of testing/screening especially in Asian women.
